Which grades does JENS Primary School take?
This part of the school is for Grade R, Grade 1 and Grade 2, usually children from about five to eight years old. Grades 3 to 7 are on a separate campus, and we are happy to put you in touch with them.

Telephone or WhatsApp the school, come and see the classrooms, then complete the online application form. It takes about ten minutes on a phone, and you can upload the required documents as photographs.

School fees for 2027 are R23 500 for the year, covering February to November, and may be paid annually, termly or monthly. A non-refundable enrolment fee of R2 350 secures a place on acceptance, and there are separate book, sport and development fees.

You will need your child's birth certificate, the parents' identity documents, proof of residence, the most recent school report or clinic card, and the immunisation record. Copies may also be handed in at the school office.

Yes. Aftercare runs after the school day and includes homework support and a sandwich, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, or to 4:00 pm depending on annual demand. Daily homework classes are also offered.
Aftercare, homework classes and boardingIs boarding available?
Private boarding accommodation is available in a safe, private home environment, arranged separately from the school. Families travelling from Mount Ayliff, Swartberg, Matatiele and Harding are welcome, and those learners attend homework classes at no extra cost.

Yes. We are a small, inclusive mainstream school. Classes are small enough for teachers to notice early when a child needs a different pace or extra help, and we work openly with parents to find the right fit for each child.
How we support every learnerWhat curriculum do you follow?
We follow the CAPS curriculum as our minimum standard and build on it with reading, practical work, outdoor learning and plenty of individual attention in small classes.

Deliberately small. Every child is known by name, teachers know each family, and no child gets lost in the crowd. That is the main reason parents choose a small independent school for the foundation years.

Yes. JENS stands for Jesus Equips, Nurtures and Saves, and prayer, songs and simple Bible stories are part of the week in a way that suits young children. Children of all backgrounds are warmly welcomed.

JENS Primary School is a registered independent school with EMIS number 492766, a member of ISASA, and externally evaluated through OISESA. Our staff are SACE registered, first-aid trained and police and child-protection cleared.
